The Last Of Us Part 2, the sequel to a game recently named Game of the Decade over at Metacritic AND PlayStation Blog, is fast approaching – and it looks like it could be the biggest game of the year.
After the post-apocalypse of the first game, players will be stepping back into the shoes of now 19-year old Ellie as she battles a terrifying new cult in the ruins of the United States – along with the monstrous infected.
Originally slated to launch next month on February 21, the game was delayed in October to May 29 – and we're champing at the bit to find out how Ellie and her guardian Joel have grown since the 2013 original. Not played the first one yet? It's not too late to catch up.
Naughty Dog, the developers of the game, have had a great generation when it comes to PS4 games – releasing Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: Lost Legacy, while also porting the original Last Of Us at the start of the console's lifecycle.
Could they reach out to other platforms, too – perhaps reaching Xbox One? We're sure that would please Microsoft and Xbox fans who have been bereft of exclusives this gen.
For those curious, here's everything you will need to know.
The Last of Us, Part II outshines the original in practically every way. The game takes level design, combat, stealth, AI and interactive narrative and uses each element to elevate the other.
Unpredictable, intelligent and self-aware, this game seems to pride itself on digging into your head and staying there – allowing its themes and messages to grow and mutate long after the credits roll.
Naughty Dog knows just when to take your tools off you, remove the safety blanket and provoke you. It weaves inconsistent pacing and tension together masterfully to leave you as scared and vulnerable as its protagonists.
This is a game that’s going to be talked about for a long time to come, and with good reason. A masterpiece.

Sony's first-party lineup is industry-leading, with Sony Santa Monica's God of War and Guerrilla Games' Horizon: Zero Dawn being two of the best games of this console generation.
Meanwhile, rivals Microsoft have been struggling to get exclusive titles on their Xbox systems – but have been hoovering up studios left right and centre as they push to make the upcoming console generation more competitive than this one.
They've snagged Obsidian (developers of The Outer Worlds), Psychonauts developers Double Fine and Ninja Theory – a developer that has already shown off Hellblade II: Sennua's Saga for the Xbox Series X.
With Microsoft ramping up for a next-gen battle, Sony will be hoping to repeat their recent success with the PlayStation 5 – especially with the PS4 shipping over 106 million units as of last week's CES announcement.
