If the Jungle world was a warmup in LEGO Bricktales, the Desert is when the real challenges begin. The Market Square and the nearby Excavation Site are filled to the brim with building puzzles that will test your construction skills. Of course, the difficulty of some puzzles makes it all the more satisfying once they're complete!

If a particular challenge is really giving you trouble, this guide will help you construct all the bridges, pyramids, mosaics, and more that the people of the Desert require. All that work will pay off when you have a new Happiness Crystal and a useful new skill to show for it!

Many puzzles in LEGO Bricktales have more than one solution. You may find builds that are different from those below, but work just as well.

How To Arrange The Merchant's Wares

One of the rich merchant's workers needs to fix the shelves after an earthquake, but his boss is very particular about the order of the items. Using the clues you're given, you need to arrange the wares in a specific way.

From left to right, the correct order is:

  • Cupcake
  • Pyramid
  • Bottle
  • Gold

How To Rebuild The Catnip Seller's Stall

The catnip seller on the right side of the Market Square has had their stall completely destroyed in the earthquake. Rebuilding it will help them get their business back on its feet.

Place two thin plates on either side of the merchant; the front ones will jut out into the street, but not far enough to be outside the build area.

The countertop with the jars of catnip can be place between the plates, directly in front of the merchant.

Connect the parts that stick out using a pair of two-by-four plates. If you want, you can cover the floor area with smooth plates for decoration.

Add a layer of bricks to the top of both thin plates.

Place a single one-peg brick on each side of the merchant.

Continue stacking small bricks on both sides of the merchant until they're over the merchant's head. The stack will be four bricks high

Connect the two stacks with half-arches, then place the topper directly over the merchant's head.

The stall is finished, but you can decorate it if you want.

How To Build The Desert Bridge

The Desert Bridge is one of the hardest puzzles in the entire game. The build area requires that you make use of large arches to allow foot traffic underneath, and the pieces you have available require precise engineering to keep the bridge from collapsing.

Use four square bricks to build a central pillar under one side of the bridge.

Place two arches on the outer edge of the pillar so that each reaches an opposite side of the canyon.

Repeat the process on the other side of the bridge; both sides should be symmetrical.

Use small bricks to build support pillars at each of the bridge's four corners. All four arches should now be fully supported.

Stack both of your two-by-four bricks on the central pillars to connect them.

Connect the corner pillars to the bridge's anchors with a brick each.

Use both of your two-by-four bricks to connect the central pillars and get them to reach the correct height.

Place the smooth plates so that they connect the arches, perpendicular to the span of the bridge.

The bridge should hold at this point, but you can place the railings on each side and decorate it if you'd like.

How To Cross The Spiked Pit In The Pyramid

To reach the Pyramid's inner sanctum, you'll need to cross a pit bristling with spikes! A rudimentary bridge will suffice, but once you've unlocked Sandbox Mode for this challenge you can expand your creation to reach the treasures above, or cover the pit entirely!

Start by building up pillars on either side of the dangerous-looking contraption in the middle.

Place the stair-like pieces at both sides of the pit, and on each pillar.

Connect the pillars with a plate, covering the device.

Use plates to connect the three parts of your bridge, then run a simulation. The pillars should provide enough support to cross safely.

How To Fix The Mosaic

After completing Queen Cleocatra's trials – which are creative challenges where you can do whatever you want as long as you use the required pieces – she tasks you with fixing the mosaic outside the Pyramid.

This is more of a jigsaw puzzle than a building challenge. Refer to the image above to see the finished image, and use the available pieces to copy it.

How To Build The Construction Ramp

Your final task in the Desert is to build a ramp for the construction vehicle so that the crew can complete their enormous cat statue. The main challenge in this puzzle is smoothing out rough terrain so that the vehicle can cross the chasm in one piece.

Start by building up parallel ramps to clear the large rock in the middle of the path. Use a long wedge for each layer of bricks.

Next, use the longest bricks available to connect the two anchor points nearest your loose pieces, as shown above.

Move the camera to the other side of the work area and connect the anchor points there. You can use smaller bricks since the anchors are closer together.

Try moving the bricks you plan to use to the other side of the work area before you start building – that way you'll have easy access to them without needing to move the camera repeatedly.

Build up both ramps using bricks and wedges. Be sure to keep them completely parallel – if you place a wedge on one side, it needs to be in the same spot on the other!

You won't have enough bricks to fill the gap at the very end of the chasm, but you don't need to.

Use your last pair of wedges to cover the gap. As long as they're connected by four pegs on the bricks underneath, they'll hold under the weight of the vehicle.

Run the simulation and complete the build to collect your hard-earned Happiness Crystal!
