Turns out Star Wars and Lego are pretty popular, who knew? Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was released to critical success two weeks ago, but now we know the true scale of the game's commercial success as well. Since its release, the game has managed to shift 3.2 million units, making it the most successful global launch for a Lego title in the entire franchise's history.
This news was first shared via the Warner Bros. Games official Twitter account (thanks GamesRadar), thanking players for supporting and helping the game smash the previous record. If you've been keeping an eye on the game's performance, then this news won't come as much of a surprise to you. When Skywalker Saga first launched it managed to amass an all-time player peak of over 80,000 on Steam, becoming the most popular title on the platform by a landslide, even outperforming other popular Star Wars titles like Jedi: Fallen Order.
In fact, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga even managed to do the impossible and outperformed Elden Ring in boxed sales in the UK, making it one of the highest-selling boxed games in the country, second only to Pokemon Legends: Arceus. What with Star Wars being so popular and Lego making the title look a lot more family-friendly, it was always going to perform well. It's just quite staggering to see it going head to head with massive titles like Elden Ring and Pokemon.
In other Star Wars-related news, if you thought we didn't have enough games on the horizon, then you're in luck. Amy Hennig – the creator of the Uncharted series – has recently announced that she and her new studio Skydance New Media is working on "a richly cinematic action-adventure game featuring an original story" based in the Star Wars universe. We don't know much else, but it's yet another Star Wars game joining the already bursting list of future releases.
