Earlier this month, we got the confirmation that Lost Judgment, a spin-off game from the Yakuza series, would be releasing on September 24, 2021. The game will follow from another in the series, Judgment, which was originally released on PS4 back in 2018. Unfortunately, we’ve also recently been made aware that the new Lost Judgment will not be getting a release on PC, so we will strictly be seeing it for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. This news was confirmed by Sega, though it’s possible that sometime in the future we will see Lost Judgment make an appearance on PC.
The newest bit of information on Lost Judgment comes from the Australian Classifications Board, which has given this upcoming game a restricted 18+ rating due to references to sexual violence. This isn’t terribly surprising, considering Yakuza: Like a Dragon was also given this same rating.
The Australian Classifications Board breaks down their rating criteria into the following categories: themes, violence, language, drug use, nudity, and sex. They then decide what level of impact each category has on the rating of the game, from none to high impact. The following is specifically how they rated Lost Judgment:
- Themes: Strong impact
- Violence: High impact
- Language: Moderate impact
- Drug Use: None
- Nudity: Mild Impact
- Sex: Moderate Impact
It would seem that violence is the highest impacting category, though under their Consumer Advice section, they specify “references to sexual violence.” So, it’s safe to say that there is a possibility of some of the sexual violence in this game being disturbing even for an adult audience.
For those who were so stoked about the game that they’ve already pre-ordered it, they could actually get a steelbook case from Best Buy with their order. Unfortunately, it seems that Best Buy ran out of these quite quickly, so they’re no longer available. But on the plus side, this seems like a promising hint that the launch is going to successful, at least as far as initial popularity goes.
