Marvel Snap was a breakout hit for its developer Second Dinner and even took Best Mobile Game at 2022's The Game Awards, which is not bad considering it was the studio's first ever game. But the developer's founders are former Hearthstone devs Ben Brode, Yong Woo, and Hamilton Chu so the card battler title had experience on its side.
With an increasing fanbase, the developer has been updating the game with balance tweaks, most recently nerfing the likes of Galactus, Aero, and Leader with others like Drax and Nakia getting buffs. But players have been wanting another update for some time — that of more emotes. And there does appear to be space where an additional emote could come in, and Snap players have been debating what kind of emotes they'd like to see added to the game.
Currently, only five emotes exist in the game. They are Ms Marvel doing a thumbs up; Deadpool raising a finger to his mouth; Thanos snapping his fingers; Spider-Man pointing in exclamation; and a fist bump involving The Thing and Hulk. Players get creative with this limited palette too, often goading and teasing each other using the emotes. But more of them could really improve the communication and shit-talking possibilities of the game. Over on the Marvel Snap subreddit, players have been wondering what the sixth emote should be.
One of the most popular suggestions was Professor X face palming via u/Jlelford. This would indeed be quite an amusing emote and it has history too. British actor Patrick Stewart played Professor X in the X-Men movies, but the thespian is also famous for his role as Star Trek captain Jean-Luc Picard and an image of him face palming as the Enterprise's skipper has become a meme. The emote could be useful for players when they want to express how they've screwed up.
Another popular suggestion was Tony Stark rolling his eyes (via u/ARMOR_X). This would be a neat addition to respond to those using more cynical cards like Iceman, Scorpion or Green Goblin, or to react to overzealous players who spam certain emotes or the 'Snap?' text. And for those who like to take their time, especially when figuring out endgame moves, another popular suggestion was an emote that expressed a "I'm thinking" or "Hold on one sec" which came courtesy of user GnarlonRando.
Another nice idea came from u/General_Specific303 who wrote "Dr. Strange holding up one finger". This is a reference to the 2019 MCU film Avengers: Endgame when the sorcerer indicates to Iron Man that there's only one chance to succeed against Thanos. It could work for players to express when they find themselves in a tight spot.
