Mass Effect Legendary Edition remaster is real, age rated in South Korea

More evidence has emerged that Mass Effect is getting a remastered trilogy edition this year, but BioWare has still said nothing official.

The rumours of a Mass Effect trilogy remaster collection stretch back years and yet EA has never confirmed such a thing exists and, while they have seemed to hint at it occasionally, neither has developer BioWare.

The latest evidence is that something called Mass Effect Legendary Edition has appeared on the South Korean age rating website, which is pretty cast iron proof that the game exists.

The listing has now been removed but website Gematsu was able to grab a screenshot before it disappeared, although unfortunately it offered no detail on what exactly the Legendary Edition is.

The name Legendary Edition has been rumoured before though, to describe a remaster collection containing all three original games.

The only real question here is why EA hasn’t gone ahead and announced the game, especially as it’s believed to be out this year.

An earlier VentureBeat report suggested that the problem is that work on Mass Effect 1 was not going well and was slowing down development – enough that the game may no longer be a 2020 release.

EA submitting it for an age rating does imply they’re still aiming for a release this year but until they announce something publicly we won’t know for sure.
