Master Chief from Halo rumoured for future Fortnite crossover

God Of War’s Kratos has recently been added as a new Fortnite skin and it’s rumoured that Master Chief could follow suit.

Fortnite is no stranger to crossovers (its newest season already has an appearance by the Mandalorian), but the latest rumours and theories are getting rather wild.

The most recent one claims that Master Chief, star of the Halo franchise, will be appearing in Fortnite as part of Season 5.

The rumour originates from an anonymous 4chan post, which claimed to have received the info from a friend at Epic Games.

However, what suddenly makes it seem more believable is the recent confirmation that Kratos from the God of War series is in Fortnite as a skin.

Why he’s included is still not clear (aside from fitting the ‘hunter’ theme Season 5 is going for), but what’s particularly surprising is that he’s not exclusive to the PlayStation versions of the game.

Fortnite players on Xbox and Nintendo Switch can acquire the skin (though the PlayStation 5 version does have an exclusive alternate armour skin), making this the first time Kratos has ever appeared on a non-PlayStation console.

If Sony is willing to greenlight this, is it possible Microsoft will follow suit with Master Chief? Epic did tease that hunters from other realities would arrive in Season 5, which likely means more crossovers.

Plus, Microsoft struck a deal with Nintendo to have Banjo and Kazooie and Steve from Minecraft as playable characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so there’s already precedent for having its characters on other platforms.

The rumour has also sparked another theory that Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are all lending one of their characters to Fortnite. Assuming this is true, the most likely Nintendo candidate would be Samus, the bounty hunter from the Metroid series.

And if that’s true, then that could mean Fortnite will be included in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in some form, perhaps as the next DLC character.

All eyes are now on the upcoming Game Awards on December 10, where new announcements are expected to take place.
