Metro Exodus Adds Full DualSense Support In New PC Patch

Developer 4A games is breaking some big barriers when it comes to utilizing a PS5 controller on PC. The developer recently released a small patch for Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition on PC that takes full advantage of the DualSense controller’s haptic capabilities. This is pretty big as it is one of the first instances of a PC game prioritizing the DualSense’s unique features.

While the PS5’s DualSense controller has worked with Steam for a while now, this is the first time that a game has prioritized the haptic capabilities of the controller. Metro Exodus’ recent hot fix allows PC players to use the controller’s adaptive triggers while playing the newest edition of the game. Of course, other games may also utilize the DualSense but Metro Exodus is certainly one of the more popular games to show it off. Hopefully, games in the future will follow suit as the DualSense is known for its innovative features during play.

Along with the added DualSense integration, the hot fix also fixes issues with DLC Entitlements unlocking incorrectly, VSync locking at 60 fps, and a crashing incident in Two Colonels, specific to RTX2060. Of course, the DualSense integration is what is getting the most attention. Many players took to Twitter to show off the controller’s use with the PC game and share their excitement for the feature.

Of course, this patch only works with the newly released Enhanced Edition of Metro Exodus. While PC users are already enjoying the benefits that the new edition brings, console users won’t have to wait too much longer. 4A recently announced that the Enhanced Edition upgrades are coming to next-gen consoles as a free upgrade for existing owners.

Beyond the utilization of the haptic feedback on the DualSense, this new upgrade completely rebuilds Metro Exodus’ engine to take full advantage of the popular ray tracing features. This includes running at 60 fps, new Field of View options, DLSS 2.0, and much more. While this new edition will be a free upgrade to those who already own the game, there will be a physical release of the Metro Exodus Complete Edition for both Xbox X|S and PS5.

For now, players can take full advantage of the DualSense on Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition on PC.
