It looks like Xbox and PC users may have to wait a little longer to play the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 beta. Activision recently announced plans to release the new Call of Duty sequel in November. Needless to say, the Call of Duty sequel will be preceded by the launch of a beta, which gives fans the chance to test out the multiplayer component ahead of the full release. Unfortunately for Xbox and PC owners, however, new reports suggest the beta will come to PS4 and PS5 first.
A promotional post picked up by CharlieIntel suggests the Modern Warfare 3 beta will come to PlayStation consoles five days earlier than other platforms.
It’s believed the Call of Duty multiplayer test will run on PS5 and PS4 from October 6 until October 10, followed by a second beta for all platform beginning on October 12 and ending on October 16.
Based on previous beta tests, pre-order customers are likely to get early access to the beta, which will open up to all fans later on.
Call of Duty beta tests typically contain a handful of multiplayer modes and maps, not to mention exclusive rewards only available by trying the game early.
While it’s bad news for Xbox and PC users, PlayStation early access is likely to become a thing of the past once Microsoft completes its acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
As for Modern Warfare 3, fans will get a proper look at the game when Activision posts new gameplay footage on August 17.
The Call of Duty publisher has already confirmed that original Modern Warfare villain Makarov will be making an appearance in the upcoming release.
Fans have since learned that the game is coming to current-gen consoles as well as PS4 and Xbox One.
We also know that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 has been given a November 10 release date.
