Gaspard Ulliel, the French actor who plays Anton Mogart/Midnight Man in Marvel’s upcoming Moon Knight series, has died. He was 37.
Ulliel died following a skiing accident in the Savoie region of France. Deadline reports that the region has seen unusually hard snow and ice which has made skiing exceptionally difficult. A five-year-old girl recently died after a skier lost control and collided with her.
The exact circumstances of the accident were not disclosed, but we know Ulliel suffered a head injury and was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital. He later died of his injuries. Ulliel is survived by his son, Orso, and girlfriend, Gaelle Petri.
Perhaps best known for his portrayal of young Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising and for playing fashionista Yves Saint Laurent in the biopic Saint Laurent, Ulliel recently finished filming for Marvel's Moon Knight series where he'll play Anton Mogart, better known as Midnight Man. Ulliel has yet to appear in the trailer, but in the comics, Midnight Man is a thief with a very similar costume to Moon Knight. Depending on the comic, he's either a sidekick or a villain.
Given how Ethan Hawke is confirmed as the villain in Moon Knight, we can likely assume Midnight Man will be a secondary character of some sort.
Moon Knight will start streaming on Disney Plus on March 30.
