  • The PS5 is getting ready to celebrate its second birthday with Sony’s latest console first hitting shelves back in November 2020. Since that time one of the rarest and most expensive PlayStation 5 collectibles has been the console itself. Huge demand coupled with limited-stock (driven by supply chain issues sparked by the global chip shortage) led to the PS5 regularly being out of stock and selling for inflated prices from resellers.

This was the same case as with the Xbox Series X, but thankfully this year the situation is improving with the PS5 more readily available.

While the PS5 can still sell for marked-up prices at resellers, the most valuable collectibles are hard-to-come-by PS5 games.

And anyone that has had the PS5 for awhile may be lucky enough to have some of these rare and expensive games hiding in their collection.

If you’re hoping to make a quick buck then here’s details on the most valuable PS5 games and collectibles around…

Evil Dead: The Game (Ultimate Collector’s Edition)

For anyone new to game collecting, it’s important to point out that the value of a game, console and accessory can all depend on a number of factors – such as the region it was released in and whether it’s brand new and unopened, or is complete in box or loose.

This needs to be highlighted as the current most expensive PS5 game ever made was actually released in the US.

That game is Evil Dead: The Game (Ultimate Collector’s Edition). A brand new version of this is currently worth £1,130.

While a complete in box copy is worth £869 and a loose version will sell for £754.

This is according to pricecharting.com, a website that tracks how the value of games, consoles and accessories rise or fall as time goes by.

This collector’s edition comes with exclusive DLC, a T-shirt, art cards, a collectible box, hardcover artbook, vinyl soundtrack and more.

    Elden Ring (Premium Collector’s Edition)

The second most expensive PS5 game is the Premium Collector’s Edition of FromSoftware’s smash hit Elden Ring, which if you’ve got in your collection you’ll be able to make a tidy profit on.

A new version of this is worth £900, with a complete in box version worth £689 and a loose version able to sell for almost £600.

This impressive collector’s edition – which was available to buy in the UK – comes with a hardcover artbook, steelbook for the game, statue of Malenia: Blade of Miquella, poster, art cards, stickers, soundtrack and of course the game itself.

But the standout of this collector’s edition is a full scale replica helmet of what Malenia wears in game.

Only 6,000 units of this collector’s edition were ever made worldwide.

God of War Ragnarok (Jotnar Edition)

Another rare and expensive game that’s available on the PS5 is God of War Ragnarok (Jotnar Edition).

Unlike the Elden Ring and Evil Dead limited editions already mentioned, the Jotnar Edition for God of War Ragnarok hasn’t hit shelves just yet.

Pre-orders for this have opened up ahead of the release date of Kratos and BOY’s next adventure which launches on November 9.

However, stock for the Jotnar Edition has been in high demand and sold out fast whenever orders have been available.

The Jotnar Edition of God of War Ragnarok includes a 16inch Mjolnir replica hammer, a seven inch vinyl, Brok’s dice set, Yggdrasil cloth map, Legendary Draupnir ring and much more.

The Jotnar Edition has an RRP of £229.99 but if you’re looking to re-sell it a brand new version is worth £671.

This is for the UK version while the US version is worth £665.

Other rare and expensive PS5 games

These collector’s editions of Evil Dead, Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok are the most expensive PS5 games around – but there are other games you’ll want to have which also have risen in value.

These games are Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed (2nd Coming) which is worth £444, Disco Elysium: The Final Cut (Collector’s Edition) which is worth £328 and Soul Hackers 2 (Collector’s Edition) which is valued at £275.

These prices are all for US releases of games that are brand new and unopened.

Looking at UK releases, valuable PS5 games to keep an eye out for include Tales of Arise (Hootle Edition) which is worth £271, Elden Ring (Collector’s Edition) which is valued at £213 and Resident Evil Village (Collector’s Edition) which would set you back £206 on the resale market.

Prices mentioned are once again for brand new and unopened games.
