Nintendo are rumoured to be holding a Nintendo Direct presentation for February 2022. The House of Mario could air a new stream full of Nintendo Switch announcements within the next few weeks. So far, an exact date and time hasn’t been announced for the next Nintendo Direct but one leaker has given an idea of when the February 2022 stream could be.

According to insider Samus Hunter, the next Nintendo Direct could air before February 17 2022.

Towards the start of this year @SamusHunter2 posted on Twitter: “I know that there are a lot of people that are eager to find when the next #NintendoDirect is scheduled. Well, I’m hearing some announcement scheduled and launch period for games that right know makes me confident to say that it should arrive before last February direct (2/17)”.

In terms of what could get announced during the next Nintendo Direct, top of many people’s wishlist would be an update on The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 – arguably the biggest Switch game getting released in 2022.

However, according to Samus Hunter an update on the next Zelda adventure could come a bit further down the line.

The leaker posted: “Many asked about Zelda. Right now I don’t have something concrete. BotW recived a full marketing campaign of roughly 9 months, so if the Sequel will follow the same pattern it’s possibile we might see it soon, but this is just a speculation. But I expect something before June.”

While Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 may feature in a Nintendo Direct later on, there is one title that could get a big showing in the February Direct.

And that’s the new Xenoblade game which Monolith Soft are rumoured to be working on.

If you’re a fan of the series, the good news is an announcement on Xenoblade Chronicles 3 could be imminent.

Samus Hunter posted: “You know that I’m following the updates on #MonolithSoft developed games, even before all the other. I want to update on something that you can find publicly. Monolith Soft site has updated this morning with new graphics and icon, but the more interesting thing is that they now removed the page dedicated to the recruitment of the Xenoblade team (Production01). What does that mean?

“In late 2020 I reported that their next game was in a good state with the main cutscene finalised.

“In mid 2021 they started the soundtrack recording then followed by the confirmation of Mitsuda and ACE composers. Mitsuda also teased that one of the project that he worked, might get announced this month. Given that one of their game is planned for this year, there are lots of things that lines up for an announcement in the coming weeks.”

And there’s reason to hope one unannounced Nintendo Switch game could get revealed during February, possibly during a February 2022 Nintendo Direct.

The Japanese Nintendo Dream magazine has revealed that its next issue, which will be published on Monday February 21, will have more details on a so far unannounced Nintendo game.

This was revealed by Twitter user @Dededaio who revealed a translation of the tease.

It said: “New issue will release it on Monday, February 21. In addition to detailed news about Kirby and The Forgotten Land, we’ve also included a new game that we didn’t expect! I have a feeling that a new title will be announced”.

It’s unclear if this rumoured new game is another Kirby title, or another new game in general. If it’s the latter it could tie into the rumours that a new Xenoblade game will get announced soon.
