Outer Wilds Comes To PlayStation Now

Last week, PlayStation finally caved and revealed its grand plans for PS Plus. A tiered system that will give subscribers access to a vast library of PS4 and PS5 games if you opt for Extra, and titles from older PlayStation consoles should you choose Premium. When the new system is ushered in this June, PS Now as you know it will become a thing of the past as it will be replaced by what is hopefully the far superior PS Plus Premium.

For now, life continues as normal for PS Now. That means new games announced for the month of April, and if you're subscribed to PS Now then you can play them this very second. Leading the way this month is Outer Wilds in which you are tasked with navigating an open world in a timeloop. If you're after something that won't make your brain hurt quite as much, then a handful of other games arrive on PS Now today too.

Next up is World Rally Championship 10, a game that definitely does not require you to navigate a timeloop. It might be a welcome break from the controversial grind in Gran Turismo 7, though. Also joining PS Now today are Journey to the Savage Planet, and Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood. Since all four of these games launched on PS4, and the PS Plus revamp is looming, it's likely all of them will be available on PS Plus Premium and Extra when Now switches over, but that's not guaranteed.

Despite it having a vast library of games at subscribers' disposal, even before it becomes PS Plus Premium, PS Now hasn't been a raving success for PlayStation. When observed in a vacuum, most would likely agree it's a pretty good deal. However, when compared to the might of Xbox Game Pass, well, there really isn't much of a comparison. Hence PlayStation revamping its entire subscription service two months from now.

That's not to say the new PS Plus is trying to rival Game Pass. It has already been confirmed big games will not be available day one as is the case for most Xbox titles. As for how much this is all going to cost, Premium will be $119.99 per year. However, a loophole was discovered this week allowing subscribers to commit to PS Now, which will become Premium in June, for the next decade for $59.99. PlayStation appears to have already removed that deal from its site, though.
