When a series is as popular and beloved as Pokemon, the interesting fan art is usually not too far behind. Whether it be making their own games, having a go at remaking the current ones, or even turning Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson into a Pokemon, fans of the series have showcased their creative talents a number of times.
Today's example is no different and probably takes the award for most artistic flair. Redditor HalexRaoul recently shared on Reddit an absolutely stunning wood-carved statue of the legendary Pokemon Kyogre from Pokemon Sapphire, as well as each stage of the creation process. The final product is pretty spectacular, covered with fine detail that even a legendary Pokemon deity would be pleased with.
If you're a fan of HalexRaoul's work, then you may want to keep an eye on his Reddit page in the near future as well. In the replies on HalexRaoul's Reddit post, another user asks if they plan to create the rest of the Weather Trio to which HalexRaoul confirms. For those unfamiliar, the Weather Trio consists of Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza, the three legendary pokemon from Sapphire, Ruby, and Emerald respectively. It's pretty likely we'll be seeing some more statues from HalexRaoul pretty soon.
For now, you'll just have to amuse yourself with some Pokemon games and, thankfully, Pokemon Legends: Arceus is right around the corner. However, a recent leak suggests that the title may be a lot more stripped back in terms of mechanics than previous Pokemon entries. According to the leak, Pokemon Legends: Arceus won't include breeding, unique abilities, or even held items.
This could possibly be down to Game Freak attempting to set the game apart from your more standard Pokemon titles, but will definitely be an adjustment for more ardent Pokemon fans.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is still expected to launch on January 28 exclusively on Nintendo Switch, with pre-orders available at most online retailers.
