Pokemon Fan Details Every Model And Animation Change In Scarlet & Violet

If you're a long-time Pokefan, you'll probably be aware of the whole "Dexit" saga that took place before the release of Pokemon Sword & Shield. Game Freak told fans that it cut out a large chunk of the Pokedex so it could concentrate on better 3D models, seeing as though it was the first time many 'mons had appeared on Switch. Despite this, fans were still upset with the animations, and you don't have to look very far online to find videos of YouTubers "fixing" them.

Fast forward three years and we now have the launch of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, and one fan has been quick to outline all of the different model and animation changes that have been implemented since Sword & Shield. In a large thread on Twitter, Yisuno shares several new animations that players can expect to see in Scarlet & Violet, as well as some much-needed changes to pre-existing animations that make them look a little less goofy.

For starters, Yisuno shows off all of the brand new animations for Pokemon, as it seems most have new animations for snoozing. They show both a Charizard and a Rayquaza having a little sleep on a beach, as well as an image of a Pikachu in the ocean, displaying the fact that some Pokemon even have swimming animations. Charizard is less likely to want to go for a dip though.

It looks like Scarlet & Violet also fixes a problem that fans have been complaining about for a long time now, and that's scale. Yisuno shows their character stood next to several different Legendary Pokemon like Groudon and Giratina, showing off their models and how they're more accurate to their canon size. It does seem to be on a case-by-case basis though, as it seems Eternatus has been scaled down. It's possible this may only affect the larger Pokemon out there, so don't go expecting a full-sized Wailord to pop out of your Pokeball.

Another big change to the game's animations is that certain Pokemon have multiple battle stances depending on what kind of environment they're in. For example, Mewtwo stands on two feet during a ground battle but floats while battling in the ocean. This also means that certain Pokemon that were constantly in flight like Tropius and Charizard can now land on the ground, although this is also inconsistent as Yisuno shows Salamence and Eelektross in their goofy floating forms.

While the game's performance seems to be the biggest issue, it seems like Game Freak has actually tried to make Pokemon models look better in Scarlet and Violet. Hopefully, this pleases some of the more hardcore Pokemon fans out there, but we all know that's an impossible task for Game Freak these days.
