The first of the two-part DLC expansion pass for Pokémon Sword and Shield has not been delayed and will still be out this month.

Although many fans had begun to brace themselves for news of a delay The Isle Of Armor DLC expansion for Pokémon Sword and Shield has been given an exact release date and will be out on 17 June.

The new trailer adds relatively few new details but the Galarian Slowbro is confirmed to be a poison/psychic type and has the ability Quick Draw and an exclusive move called Side Arm Smash, which poisons an opponent.

There will also be gigantamax versions of classic Gen I pokémon Venusaur and Blastoise (Charizard is already in the game), new tutor moves, and a number of returning pokémon from previous games.

The Isle Of Armor in inspired by the Isle Of Man and includes a new dojo and a new pokémon called Kybfu that evolves into Urshifu, which, as you can see from the trailer, has two different fighting styles and a Gigantamax form.

The second expansion is called The Crown Tundra and is inspired by Scotland. It will be out much later in the year, but both are primarily open world areas similar to the Wild Area from the main game.

The trailer confirms that the legendary birds are Galarian versions of the original Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres – rather than completely new pokémon. Articuno is Psychic/Flying with the Competitive ability, Zapdos is Fighting/Flying with the Defiant ability, and Moltres is Dark/Flying with the Berserk ability.

The new Regi pokémon are the electric type Regieleki with the ability Transistor and the dragon type Regidrago, who has the ability Dragon’s Maw.

The Isle Of Armor isn’t available separately but instead you have to buy the expansion pass for £26.99, which includes both sets of DLC.

Fears of a delay for The Isle Of Armor were not unfounded, as Nintendo has admitted that its Japanese developers have struggled to adapt to working from home and as result the DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has already been delayed.

Although the exact character is still a mystery the next fighter will be someone from ARMS, with the DLC now due out sometime later this month.
