Pokemon TCG: The 8 Most Heartwarming Cards

There are thousands of cards in Pokemon TCG, each with unique art. Among these cards, you can find some truly heartwarming scenes. These are cards that stray away from an epic battle or intense pose and lean more towards something that just makes you feel like smiling.

Here, we are going to take a look at some of the most heartwarming Pokemon cards out there. Many of these cards are a bit older and are not sold in packs anymore, but you can still find them individually online. First, let's look at a trio of cards that go together, bringing us a heartwarming scene.

8/8 Tepig – Legendary Treasures

Rather than just one card, this entry consists of three. Tepig is the fire-type starter of Pokemon Black and White, with its two evolutions being Pignite and Emboar. In these cards, you can see a family grow and change alongside Tepig as it evolves.

At first, the family is just a boy and his parents. When Tepig evolves into Pignite, we can see a new addition to the family, and the boy gains a sister. Finally, when Pignite becomes Emboar, we can see the addition of two new people. These two may be the new family of the now-grown boy or new siblings. Whatever the case, this family stuck together through the evolution of their little Tepig.

7/8 Light Jolteon – Neo Destiny

Light Jolteon is an older card, releasing in the early 2000s as part of the Neo Destiny expansion. On this card, can see two unlikely Pokemon cuddled together. Jolteon and Togepi aren’t a common pair, but in this card, you can see Togepi nestled against Jolteon while asleep.

In the background, you can even see a sleeping Rattata nearby. Rather than depicting Jolteon doing an epic lightning attack, we are given this heartwarming moment of relaxation, with Jolteon looking quite content holding Togepi.

6/8 Munna – Unified Minds

Next up, we have another card involving sleeping Pokemon. This time, Munna is tucking a sleeping Eevee and Pikachu into bed, as they seem to be in a very cozy bed that is full of pillows.

In mainline Pokemon games, we don’t get too much Pokemon interaction, which makes this card extra sweet. The idea of Munna tucking other Pokemon into bed is heartwarming, and the art style of the card makes it even sweeter.

5/8 Piplup – Brilliant Stars

There is no denying that Piplup is cute. Pretty much every card featuring this water-type starter from Pokemon Diamond and Pearl looks absolutely adorable. With this in mind, it’s no wonder why this card featuring Piplup making a snowman is on our list.

In this card, we can see Piplup making quite a small snowman, looking up towards the sky with a smile on its face. In the background, we can also see part of Snowpoint Temple, meaning that this Piplup is sitting in Snowpoint City building a snowman.

4/8 Torchic – Legendary Treasures

Like Piplup, Torchic is naturally very cute. When Torchic is placed in a large bin of apples, it makes for a heartwarming scene. This starter Pokemon is quite small and throughout the games, you eventually evolve it into Combusken and then Blaziken. This means that you may not get the most amount of time with Torchic.

In this Pokemon card, you can witness Torchic doing something rather simple that still manages to put a smile on our faces. It also leaves us asking a few questions. Is Torchic going to eat all of these apples? Does this mean that Combusken and Blaziken eat apples too?

3/8 Snorunt – Generations

Something about Pokemon building snowmen seems to always be a beautiful sight. In this card, we have two Snorunt building a little snowman that looks like Pikachu. Both Snowrunts have large grins on their faces, leading us to believe that they are having fun. Of course, looking at this card makes us want to join in on the fun as well.

Interestingly, the Pikachu snowman looks similar to Snow Pikachu, which was part of Game Freak's 2008 April Fool’s Joke. From then on, Snow Pikachu has made several appearances, and is even part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, where you can see the Pikachu balloon holding the little snowman.

2/8 Espeon VMAX – Fusion Strike

Fusion Strike is a relatively new expansion, releasing in late 2021. In this set, you can find a Dynamaxed version of Espeon, who happened to fall asleep on a rooftop.

Typically, Dynamaxed Pokemon are large and intimidating. With enhanced power, they can be quite difficult to take down. In Pokemon Sword and Shield, we really only see Dynamaxed Pokemon in raids, but this card shows us another side of this. Outside of battle, you can catch a sleepy Espeon on a rooftop taking a peaceful nap.

1/8 Pikachu – XY Promos

Along with the release of Pokemon X and Y, the XY Black Star Promo expansion was released. In this set, you can find a heartwarming scene depicting Pikachu, Sylveon, and Chespin eating bread, sandwiches, and rice balls. All three Pokemon are happy and smiling, and once again, we wish we were there to join them.

The newest games in the series, Scarlet and Violet, introduced us to picnics with Pokemon, but prior to this game, it wasn’t possible to gather your Pokemon for a nice picnic meal, complete with a blanket and basket.
