PS5 dev kit spotted in Hideo Kojima's new office – could mean Death Stranding 2

Amid speculation on Hideo Kojima’s next project, a picture of what looks like Kojima Productions’ new office contains a PS5 dev kit.

At this point, it seems like Hideo Kojima can’t post anything on social media without fans assuming that it contains some cryptic hint for his next project, especially as they often do.

It’s been repeatedly claimed that he’s collaborating with Microsoft on something related to cloud gaming, but it doesn’t look like he’s abandoning Sony and the PlayStation any time soon.

Recently, Kojima shared a photo on Twitter of what is implied to be the new offices for Kojima Productions. Soon enough, someone combed through it and spotted a PlayStation 5 dev kit in the background.

Considering Death Stranding released for the PlayStation 5 only last September, Kojima would obviously be in possession of one. However, the fact that the kit is situated near one of the many monitors and appears to be hooked up to it suggests that it’s in use, i.e. for something new.

As such, it’s reasonable to believe that Kojima is working on a game for Sony’s console. After all, Kojima Productions is meant to be making a sequel to Death Stranding, although it technically hasn’t been confirmed yet.

The real question is whether Kojima’s next project is Death Stranding 2, the aforementioned Xbox collab, or something else entirely. It may not even be game related as his studio is also branching out into film and television production.

This also comes amid speculation that Kojima Productions is the next big buy-out for Sony. An updated PlayStation Studios banner seemed to point to it happening and Kojima even retweeted the image.

A Sony acquisition would make some sense given the close working relationship between it and Kojima. However, Kojima’s retweet claimed he was only joking and he later said that his studio will continue to operate independently.
