Rapper Logic Buys Pokemon Card For $220,000, And He Has A Surprisingly Sweet Reason

The rapper Logic, whose real name is Robert Bryson Hall II, has purchased an ultra-rare Pokemon card for a pretty penny. He said on Twitter that he was the bidder on a PSA 10 Base Set 1st Edition Charizard card with a winning bid of $183,812.

With the 20% buyer’s premium factored in, the total price of the purchase climbs above $220,000 (via GameSpot sister site CNET). This was actually Logic’s second massive Pokemon purchase this week, as he also shelled out $23,000 on a base set box earlier in the week.

Posting on Instagram, Logic spoke about his love and appreciation of Pokemon and how spending top-dollar on these new cards is “not about the material, it’s about the experience.”

“When I was a kid I absolutely loved Pokemon but couldn’t afford the cards,” he said. “I remember even trying to trade food stamps for theirs and now as an adult who has saved every penny he has made being able to enjoy something that I’ve loved since childhood now as a grown man is like buying back a piece of something I could never have. It’s not about the material, it’s about the experience.”

In other news about expensive Pokemon card purchases, the YouTuber Logan Paul recently spent $200,000 on a first edition box–watch him open it here.
