New details have been released about the visuals of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, as it will feature ray-traced 4k visuals and is targeting 60fps on PS5.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was originally announced during the PS5 reveal event in June, where it was one of the most technically impressive games on display. The potential of the internal SSD used by the PS5 was demonstrated perfectly by Rift Apart, as the player was able to easily teleport between drastically different locations without any sort of load time. An updated trailer was shown during Gamescom, offering a closer look at the combat system and the story of the game.

The official PlayStation website has updated its Rift Apart page with new information about the technical prowess of the game. According to the official description of the game, Rift Apart will be displayed in dynamic 4K HDR and include ray-tracing, with a dedicated performance mode to enable the game to hit a targeted 60fps.
Rift Apart will feature near-instant loading, thanks to the SSD used by the PS5. The game will use both the Adaptive Triggers and Haptic Feedback of the DualSense controller, making combat feel more alive, as you’ll feel physical feedback from your in-game actions. Rift Apart is also designed to make the most of the 3D audio technology used by the PS5, allowing sounds to come from different directions when played with compatible headphones. Frustratingly, the updated details did not reveal the release date for Rift Apart.
The PS5 lost a lot of luster when it was revealed that some of its biggest games were going cross-gen, as it raised the question of why purchasing a PS5 at launch was even necessary. The release date of Rift Apart is supposed to be the “launch window” of the PS5 and it could be the game that truly shows off the power of next-gen systems. The trailers for Rift Apart were some of the most impressive revealed of the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X titles, and the technical capabilities of the game could be its biggest selling point.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is currently in development for PS5.
