CD Projekt Red has announced a new free-to-play endless runner game where you play as Roach the horse. The game was announced as part of today’s Night City Wire stream, and is available both in Cyberpunk 2077 and as a free download on iOS and Android.
The game starts with Roach, Geralt of Rivia’s horse from The Witcher series, escaping and running off just like he would when he bugs out in Witcher 3. Roach then goes on a journey across the countryside, avoiding obstacles such as flying Griffins along the way. Once he strikes an obstacle, Geralt finally catches up with Roach and comforts his poor injured horse.
We got a brief look at the game during Night City Wire, but more info can be found on the Cyberpunk 2077 patch notes for update 1.6.
"You can now play a brand-new mini-game using arcade machines located in Night City, including the ones in the Northside, Japantown and The Glen apartments," reads the notes. "Climb the leaderboard to earn special prizes including cash and items! If you're enjoying Roach Race in Cyberpunk 2077, check out the mobile version for Android and iOS. Remember that your high scores in the in-game and mobile versions are separate, though."
Roach Race is entirely free-to-play with no microtransactions. Cash and items for high scores are only redeemable in Cyberpunk 2077, and leaderboards for the Cyberpunk and mobile versions of Roach Race are completely separate. Roach Race was made in collaboration with Crunching Koalas, who also helped with making the mobile version of Gwent.
Elsewhere in the 1.6 update for Cyberpunk 2077, Edgerunners is taking over the latest patch with a new quest, new cosmetics that'll let you look like anime protagonist David Martinez, and long-awaited features like the wardrobe function and being able to modify your appearance at Ripper Docs.
Cyberpunk's upcoming story DLC, Phantom Liberty, just got its first trailer revealing the return of Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand, and the Edgerunners anime got its English dub trailer before its Netflix release on September 13. CD Projekt Red has more planned for Cyberpunk in the future, which you can read about here.
