Shotty Snipers Could Be Coming To Halo Infinite Season 2

Halo Infinite might be adding Shotty Snipers in its second season.

Earlier in the month, 343 Industries announced that Halo Infinite's second season will be titled "Lone Wolves" and will introduce several new game modes like Last Spartan Standing, Land Grab, and the returning King of the Hill.

It looks like you can add one more to that list, though. As reported by InfiniteLeaks on Twitter, Halo Infinite's source code has references to Shotty Snipers, indicating that it's going to be added to the game in the future. The line of code says, "EventShottySnipes-UGC".

Shotty Snipers is one of Halo's most popular game modes and has players only able to use a Shotgun and a Sniper, both with unlimited ammo. It's essentially just a team deathmatch from there, but with two of the most powerful weapons in the game. It's been a staple of Halo since the second game, but was absent from Halo Infinite at launch.

Although the return of a popular game mode is something for Halo fans to get excited about, it seems that it won't be in the game for too long. It's referred to as an "event" within the game's code, which means that it's likely to be a limited-time mode rather than being added permanently.

This would also explain why it wasn't mentioned alongside the other game modes in the season two announcement post. If it's just being planned as a limited-time event, then it wouldn't make sense for 343 to announce it alongside events that are going to be in the game permanently. Shotty Snipers only being a limited event might seem disappointing, but it's possible that it'll be added to the game full time if it proves popular enough.

It's worth noting that there's a lot of content within Halo Infinite's files that has yet to see the light of day. Ever since the multiplayer launched in November, a huge number of armour sets, weapon variants, and game modes have been found within the files, most of which has gone unused so far, so it might be worth expecting a wait for Shotty Snipers.
