Konami has finally addressed Silent Hill, the long-dormant psychological horror series that rivaled Resident Evil in its heyday. It's getting an update transmission tomorrow, and in the lead-up, Pyramid Head creator Masahiro Ito has been counting down with the fans.
This has sparked speculation that he's involved in some way with whatever is about to be announced (as reported by PCGamesN). We still don't know exactly what's on the horizon, but there have been leaks and rumours about Bloober Team making some kind of Silent Hill game, a possible demo in the vein of PT, a fully-fledged remake of 2 sparked by the success of Resident Evil's own remakes, and more. If 2 is getting remade, Ito might be involved as it's the game that debuted Pyramid Head all those years ago. We'll have to wait and see.
He could also be counting down with the fans as an onlooker simply excited by Silent Hill's return – it's unclear right now, though that hasn't stopped theories and wild internet gossip. If you haven't heard of Ito, he worked on the original trilogy for the PS1 and PS2, creating and designing Pyramid Head. They're the iconic villain who stalks James Sunderland in the second game, appearing in subsequent films and even crossovers with other horrors like Dead by Daylight.
Only four days ago, Ito was even tweeting about Pyramid Head and what inspired him when it came to designing their look. As it turns out, Ito was enamoured with the background executioner characters in Braveheart, pushing him to explore other characters who wore bags on their head. He even drew from his older work as an art student, particularly a piece titled Strange Head.
We won't have to wait long to find out if Ito is involved in whatever Konami has cooking, but according to the film's director Christophe Gans, there are "several games" in development. Perhaps he's involved in one of the several.
