I know Garlic is perhaps the most important aromatic in my cuisine, which is why most people stay roughly 6 feet away from me at all times, and it’s equally as important in Skyrim. Garlic is a key ingredient in multiple recipes, several alchemical potions, and when turned into Garlic Bread, can even cure diseases.
So it’s a shame that vanilla Skyrim’s bulbs look kind of icky. Instead of a pristine white with shades of gray, Skyrim’s garlic looks yellow and brown, as though they’re already half-moldy from age. They’re certainly not appetizing, which is probably why modder wSkeever decided to take it upon themselves to fix Skyrim’s garlic (thanks, PC Gamer).
Garlic – A Garlic Mod replaces Skyrim’s garlic with versions that are much closer to real life than vanilla Skyrim. They feature higher-rest textures and models with far more edges than before. In fact, there are more than 34 times as many vertices and almost 23 times as many triangles in a single bulb compared to the original Skyrim, and garlic braids now make four separate drawl calls for bulbs rather than just one.
And if all that math wasn't enough to convince you, wSkeever produced a trailer that perfectly captures the majesty of the mod's garlic. It was even enough to convince at least one person to play Skyrim for the first time, with multiple responses stating this is the best Skyrim mod ever made.
If this mod looks a little familiar, wSkeever also created the Scallions of Skyrim mod, which does much the same thing but for Skyrim's leeks. It's perhaps not quite as involved as A Garlic Mod, but it's close.
Head to Nexus Mods to download A Garlic Mod for your next Skyrim playthrough. It'll keep those pesky vampires away. It won't actually, but there's also a mod for that too.
Ever wondered how Bethesda managed to stuff the Dragonborn into the Night Mother's coffin in the Dark Brotherhood quest line? There was a lot of movie magic involved, which you can read about here.
