Smite has sort of become the MOBA of crossovers, and specifically Nickelodeon crossovers. The game has already played host to Avatar: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back in 2020, bringing the likes of Aang, Leonardo, Kora, and Raphael, among others. Each of these characters came in the form of skins for existing gods chosen for their similarity to the Nickelodeon characters.
Then last year we had the Transformers crossover event and the Stranger Things crossover, and just this year there was a Rambo crossover. Now, Smite is back on its Nickelodeon bandwagon with an even more general crossover event that brings in loads of Nick-branded characters.
Starting July 12, Smite will add Danny Phantom, Invader Zim, Rocko, Powdered Toastman, and XJ9 skins for Janus, Cupid, Danzburou, Gilgamesh, and Freya, respectively. All are fairly appropriate characters for the gods they’ll be impersonating. There’s also a dozen free Nickelodeon-themed cosmetics to earn from playing and completing quests, such as the smashing Global Emote or Gir Jump Stamp.
"'Excited' doesn’t even begin to explain how our team reacted when the news broke about the Nickelodeon crossover," wrote design director AJ "TitanAjax" Walker of Titan Forge Games. "Our team dove into the project with animated enthusiasm, developing imaginative ideas and amazing content. While we’ve worked with the Paramount team before, this crossover covered so many different generations of childhood television that it brought up a lot of nostalgia for the team."
Nickelodeon’s latest crossover comes to Smite July 12.
While Nickelodeon is showing Smite some love, fans of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl are begging for Squidward as the game's next DLC. This comes after a community poll voted Squidward as the most requested Nick character that hasn't already been thrown into Smash-like brawler, followed up by Timmy Turner and Ickis from Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. Another SpongeBob character, Mr. Krabs, came in fourth in the user poll.
