One of Steam's best-rated games of all time is getting yet another update. This is actually the fourth update Terraria has received after Re-Logic launched Journey's End last year. What was supposed to be the final update has since become the not-so-final update after Terraria received Journey's Actual End Update in 1.4.1 and then did a Don't Starve crossover event.
Yesterday, Terraria YouTuber Chippy had the honor of introducing the Labor of Love update 1.4.4 for Terraria. The name comes from both the date (yesterday being Valentine's Day) and the fact Terraria won the 2021 Steam Award of the same name.
So what can we expect in 1.4.4 Labor of Love? Chippy said the update is going to be on the smaller side without much in terms of new content, but there will be an item or two worth noting. For example, there's the Resplendent Dessert item that lets you summon both your slime pets at the same time. There are also going to be several QOL changes and a slew of balance changes to Terraria's end-game weapons.
The Dark Lance, Frostbrand, Flairon, Scourge of the Corrupter, and Star Wrath are all getting buffs. Dark Lance is getting more reach, a Shadowflame debuff, and a straight damage increase. Frostbrand will fire more projectiles and inflict the Frostburn debuff. Flairon's bubbles will gain 30% more detection range and last 33% longer. Scourge of the Corrupter will produce more Minieaters that chase enemies faster, and Star Wrath projectiles will now be able to strike a single target multiple times, massively boosting its single-target DPS.
There’s other stuff too, such as changes to several quests and items, so don’t think this is all the Labor of Love update will change. See the video above for more details, and be patient as we await the full patch notes.
Re-Logic says that this will be the last update before they start working on their next game, whatever that might be. They’ve said that before, of course. Personally, I feel this Twitter response is more accurate.
