These are just our top stories and so read on for the rest.
Xbox Job Listing Hints At More Acquisitions
Microsoft has been making the news a lot recently for its really big buyouts. The company most recently purchased Activision Blizzard for a whopping $68 billion back in January. The latest development is that Microsoft has no intentions of stopping or even slowing down according to a job listing. The role in question is Manager of Gaming Strategy and Development. Whoever gets this position is going to be serving as the “corporate strategy function for Team Xbox.” The role calls for the person to "partner closely with the Gaming Leadership Team to identify and evaluate transformative growth opportunities.” In other words, they're going to be responsible for overseeing even more corporate acquisitions.
Lost Ark Community Manager Asks Players To Remember Devs Are Human
The community which has built up around Lost Ark ever since the game was released for the first time outside of Korea last month has been putting a little bit too much pressure on the developers. “Community Managers are human. We have human feelings. We also have human schedules. Most of us are Monday to Friday and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Some of us like myself are on weekends and nights. We take sick days. And vacation. We have on days and off days," Community Manager Shadow_Fox noted. "We share what information we’re allowed (as with any company and community manager relationship) and if we don’t, it’s not some deeper meaning or big secret. We just don’t have that information at the time. Yes, we make mistakes. Yes, things change. It’s not a personal vendetta against the players."
Ubisoft Drops Online Service For 90 Older Games
Ubisoft seems to have pulled the plug on as many as 90 older games, quite a few of which are classics. While the reason behind the decision to stop online service for the affected games remains unclear, dwindling player counts probably had some part to play in things. “The online multiplayer services for the titles listed below have now been shut down,” the official statement reads. "The offline features for each game remain available.” The list of games affected by the decision includes Assassin’s Creed 2, Far Cry 2, Rainbow Six Vegas, Rayman Origins, and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. The silver lining is that some games are only losing online service for select platforms.
The Last Of Us Remake Might Just Be Nearing Completion At Naughty Dog
The Last of Us might just be getting a remake. We heard some rumors to this effect last year, but new evidence recently came to light which has gotten everybody speculating once again. The news comes from a keen observer known as Joanastic on Twitter who spotted a line referring to “quality assurance testing and development support” for a currently “unannounced remake project” on the LinkedIn profile of somebody at Naughty Dog named Corey Hong. According to this profile, Hong has been doing quality assurance work at the company since 2019. In addition to this “unannounced remake,” Hong apparently contributed to the development of The Last of Us Part 2.
Super Mario Bros. Movie Delayed Into 2023
Representative Director at Nintendo Shigeru Miyamoto recently announced on Twitter that fans of the franchise would have to wait a little longer for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie. “This is Miyamoto,” the executive said. “After consulting with Chris-san, my partner at Illumination on the Super Mario Bros. film, we decided to move the global release to Spring, 2023. April 28 in Japan and April 7 in North America.” Miyamoto expressed his “deepest apologies,” but promised that “it will be well worth the wait.” Supposing that you really don’t want to wait, you could always check out the restored copy of the legendary animated film Super Mario Bros: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach! The group known as FemboyFilms just released this on YouTube.
