As expected, The King of Fighters 15 has several teams to choose from, with many familiar faces and even new ones thrown into the mix. However, if you're expecting the same team compositions as previously found in KOF 14, you may be surprised to see the vast majority of them being shaken up as a result.

Take Team K', as an example, where Kula Diamond sees her departure and heads to the newly crafted Team Krohnen. Fortunately, K' and Maxima remain on the roster and add Whip to the squad to fill the absence of Kula's exit. While Whip was added late into KOF 14 as a DLC character, she's well known for being part of Team Ikari Warriors and even helping K' (her younger brother) out throughout the series in previous installments.

Team K' Strategy Guide

While Team K' is amongst the more challenging teams jump into in The King of Fighters 15, they offer a vastly different arrangement of fighters than most teams, making them one of the more balanced team compositions in the entire game. For newcomers, it will take some time before you feel confident with each character of Team K', but the effort might be worth the effort for you in the end.

Whether you like the calm and cool All-Rounder K', the heavy Brawler Maxima, or the Long-Ranged fighter Whip, Team K' offers something for just about everyone and is genuinely amongst the best teams in the game if you can pin them down.

K' Strategy Guide

Being an All-Rounder, K' doesn't really excel in any one area, but his move list gives him options most All-Rounders won't have, setting him apart from the pack. While not the ideal candidate for beginners, he isn't impossible to pin down by any means, so we recommend giving him a shot.

Overall, K's strategy includes using his Ein Trigger and its several follow-up attacks that allow him to control the match's pacing and flow. With the Ein Trigger, K' can teleport, kick a flaming projectile at the opposition, launch his opponent into the air with a flaming kick, and much more. This allows him to become unpredictable, which opens the door to tremendous pressure and combo routes.

While K' is an All-Rounder, he isn't your traditional one by any means. What he lacks in terms of excelling at one particular thing, he more than makes up for with his ability to weave in hard-to-read follow-up attacks, which will surely keep his opponents on their toes.

Maxima Strategy Guide

There are Brawlers, and then there's Maxima. While it is generally expected for the tanky, heavy-hitters in fighting games to have armor, Maxima takes things to the next level for armored attacks. Unfortunately, for beginners, we recommend trying out Maxima in training mode and getting a solid grasp on him first before even attempting to do anything with him, as he is far from beginner-friendly.

Maxima's Stand Heavy Punch and Kick are armored attacks, along with his Crouch Heavy Kick and Blowback Attacks, making him frustrating in many situations if you're the opponent that has to deal with this. And, as with most Brawler-type characters, Maxima possesses a fierce Command Grab that will obliterate anyone that gets caught off guard. His overall strategy is to intimidate his opponent by encroaching on their space by using his armored attacks to his advantage, allowing him to bully the opponent from the moment the match starts until it ends.

Due to Maxima being a complex character to pick up, we recommend avoiding him until you grasp the basics of the game, which will allow you to go into this character with some knowledge of what the game wants and expects from you. Still, once you get him down, he is beyond fun to play and is a formidable force to be reckoned with.

Whip Strategy Guide

Despite being a long-ranged fighter, Whip has many opportunities to sprinkle mix-ups into her onslaught of ranged attacks, making her hard to deal with. While not totally beginner-friendly, she is much easier to pick up than Maxima. However, she will still require some effort from the player before they feel entirely comfortable with her unique playstyle.

Whip's overall playstyle centers around, well, her whip, which allows her to keep opponents from encroaching on her space and setup combos from just about anywhere on the stage. She has excellent mix-ups that will confuse her opponent, which is a perfect tool for ranged fighters as they can use it to control the space of the arena and the overall tempo and feel of the match.

Whip was generally considered one of the worst characters in the previous installment. However, in The King of Fighters 15, Whip has seen some much-needed changes and is an excellent choice for anyone interested in a ranged character that isn't a Zoner.
