The Matrix Resurrections Gets Second Trailer

Warner Bros. has treated fans with yet another trailer of The Matrix Resurrections, which is coming to theatres and HBO Max on December 22. As usual, there's plenty to dig into under the surface, but the simple message is: "We're all trapped inside these strange repeating loops."

Matrix Resurrections' second trailer yet again plays with fans in its sneaky montage, constantly recreating iconic shots and lines from the original trilogy. There are even direct scenes from the first movie projected on the screen in Resurrections — like Morpheus offering the choice to wake up to Neo. As one of the new characters named Bugs (played by Jessica Henwick) says, "This isn't the story we think it is."

If you're just here for some thrilling Matrix action, it's all there: people being thrown out of a moving bullet train, Neo crushing vehicles with his mind during a motorcycle chase, and slo-mo hand-to-hand combat – there's plenty for your watching pleasure. And finally, we've got shots of shaved Keanu Reeves actually playing Neo instead of John Wick!

From the first footage revealed, The Matrix Resurrections hooked fans with all the potential possibilities, as it's hard to predict what direction the story will go in. The main cast also added fuel to the fire, for example, as just recently Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity) said she had several versions for Resurrections' plot, but none of them has even come close to what director and writer Lana Wachowski has in store.

Various theories have intensified after the second trailer, such as Trinity actually being the One instead of Thomas Anderson this time around. There are many scenes in the footage with Neo and Trinity having their roles reversed, and Neo even saying: "She believed in me. It's my turn to believe in her."

The movie premieres both in cinemas and HBO Max on December 22. Until then, there's a tech demo launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S with more details to come at The Game Awards.
