This Week In Modding: Shadow Added To Sonic Frontiers, Ed Sheeran Removed From Pokemon, And More

Modders have no shortage of issues to fix this week, as Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s release proves to be a lot rougher than many of us were expecting. However, with such a mammoth task ahead of them, one fans decided to start small, giving us a mod that only makes a small change to the game, but one that will likely prove popular.

Elsewhere, fans have continued to mod Sonic Frontiers this week, adding a fan-favourite character and getting rid of a feature that some players have found frustrating. All of that and more features in our mod news round-up this week.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's First Mod Removes Ed Sheeran's Celestial

We started the week in modding news on a high, with a Pokemon fan removing Ed Sheeran’s song Celestial from Scarlet & Violet. Normally, something like this wouldn’t be too notable, but what makes it even better is that this was the first mod ever shared for Scarlet & Violet, showing just how much some fans really didn't want to hear Ed Sheeran when they rolled credits at the end of the game. And honestly? Fair. Sorry, Ed. Pokemon modders will definitely have their work cut out for them if they want to go after all of the issues in Scarlet & Violet, so it’s nice to see one creator have some fun with this one.

Cyberpunk 2077 Mod Adds Useable Stock Market, Reacts To Player Actions

This Cyberpunk mod adds a new layer to the capitalist nightmare that is Night City, letting you see mega-corp stock prices rise and fall depending on your actions. Better yet, you can even invest in shares yourself, creating a new layer of strategy in how you approach gigs and missions in the game. For example, you won’t want to invest in Arasaka before The Heist, because its stock prices will drop after you steal the chip. One of the more creative ways to manipulate the market is by driving awfully and getting into car accidents, which will raise the value of Delamain as more people opt to use the service.

Fan-Made Batman: Arkham City HD Texture Pack Gets Released After Six Years In Development

After six years of work, more than 1,000 upscaled textures have been released in a huge mod for Batman: Arkham City. Many of these textures were even improved by hand by creators GPUnity and Neato, with the rest done via AI. The texture pack is now free for anyone to install, giving us another remaster. It actually improves upon the new textures used in the official 2016 remaster, making the best way to play Arkham City even better.

Someone Has Finally Modded Shadow Into Sonic Frontiers

Shadow is both ridiculously popular in the Sonic community, and sadly absent from too many games and spinoffs. So it was no surprise to see him modded into Sonic Frontiers this week, making the iconic anti-hero playable throughout the whole game. Since we covered the mod, Shadow’s skating animation has been added, replacing Sonic’s run. He will also use Shadow voice lines outside of cutscenes. There are even alternate skins for him, referencing his appearances in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic and the Black Knight.

Sonic Frontiers Mod Finally Shuts The Blue Blur Up

Speaking of Frontiers – Sonic doesn’t shut up, does he? Some players are finding his constant references to previous games and other characters pretty annoying, prompting one modder to do something about it. Shut Up Sonic from Game Banana user Keanine does exactly what it says on the tin: makes Sonic keep his thoughts to himself. Looking at the mod’s description, it seems that it will remove all of his little mid-game muses, which is perfect for those of you on a second playthrough, having already heard everything that he has to say.
