The rumors have been confirmed, and Ubisoft Forward is back with another games showcase for us. This event is scheduled for Thursday, September 10 at 12:00 pm PDT.
Rumors flew yesterday that Ubisoft was planning another live-stream event after doing one in late July. Of course, today we have solid confirmation that this is indeed happening. Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier was the source of that rumor. Where he got that information is unknown, but it did prove to be true, and now we have more announcements and game reveals to digest—including news about the game formerly known as Gods and Monsters.
According to Ubisoft, everything kicks off at 12pm PT with updates on Watchdogs, Hyper Scape, Rainbow Six Seige, and more. There will also be “deep-dives” into two unreleased games after the main show that will be exclusive to this event. Logging in to your Ubisoft account to watch the stream will also get you in-game rewards in For Honor, Hyper Scape, Rainbow Six, and Watchdogs. However, these rewards are tied to the amount of time you watch the stream. We assume that you will need to log in to your account and watch the stream through Ubisoft’s own website to get these rewards, but the announcement doesn’t explicitly say how it works.
Of course, you can watch it on YouTube, Twitch, and various social media sites without the incentive of prizes. No matter how you watch, the big news is likely going to be what is happening with Immortals: Fenyx Rising which—when it was supposed to be released in February—was previously named Gods and Monsters. We aren’t entirely sure what prompted the change in name, but we do know that it is the same game and not something new.
Unless Ubisoft has something really special up its sleeves, this event feels unnecessary for the titles that they listed as being showcased. Journalist Jason Schrier insinuated that this event may have been designed as a distraction from the recent controversy surrounding Ubisoft.
