Ubisoft is going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment, having recently canceled a bunch of titles and pushed back Skull & Bones for a sixth time earlier this month. Adding to its growing number of concerns is now an alleged list of every Ubisoft title tipped to release at some point during the next fiscal year, that being the time period between April 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024.
Insider Gaming has reported that 11 Ubisoft games are expected to hit store shelves at some point in the next year and a bit, including big titles such as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Assassin's Creed Mirage. These are arguably the biggest titles the publisher is reportedly planning to release during this period, although games such as The Division: Heartlands and the very troubled Skull & Bones are also on the docket.
Insider Gaming also claims that Project Orlando will be announced and released during this time period, that being the game that originally started out DLC for The Crew 2 before growing too large. We'll also reportedly see the release of arena shooter xDefiant, an Assassin's Creed title for VR called Assassin's Creed Nexus, and several mobile titles based on some of the publisher's biggest franchises.
It's also worth noting the rather glaring omissions from that list, as Ubisoft has quite a few other games in development besides the ones listed here. It looks like going to have to wait even longer for the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake which has also had quite a troubled development period, while there's also no sign of the rumored 2D Prince of Persia game that was reportedly going to take inspiration from Ori and the Blind Forest. No matter which way you slice it, 2023 is not going to be great for Prince of Persia fans.
We also have no mention of other titles we know are in development like Beyond Good and Evil 2 or the newly announced Splinter Cell reboot. We've also yet to see anything concrete about the rumored Immortals: Fenyx Rising sequel, but it's worth noting that Ubisoft has scrapped an awful lot of unannounced projects over the past year. Something like this and the rumored 2D Prince of Persia game could have already been canned internally.
It's definitely worth taking into consideration that this list is by no means confirmed right now. Most of the games listed like Assassin's Creed Mirage have been given vague 2023 release dates, but all you need to do is look at Skull & Bones to see how things might not go as planned. There's always the potential that something could slip into late 2024, so take all the games you see listed with a pinch of salt. For now, all we can do is wait for Ubisoft itself to provide further details. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be seething over the continued lack of Rayman for a solid 24 hours.
