There are several different server types available for you to choose from in V Rising. If you are new to the game or don't have much experience with games that utilize servers, have no fear. In this guide, we are going to go over the differences between each server type, as well as the different game modes.
Servers are essentially 'worlds' that you play on, either by yourself or with other players, while the game mode is a 'ruleset' that applies to the server. First, let's go over the types of online servers that you can choose from.
Online Play
These are online servers hosted by another player. From here, you will be able to choose four different game modes, which you can learn about below.
PvE
- Recommended Players: 1 to 4 (This is the recommended group size that you join with, not the size of the server).
In a PvE server, you will not be able to fight other players. This server type is perfect if you are looking to play with others without the stress of combat.
When you click on this option, you will see a list of servers to choose from. You will also be able to see the number of players on the server and clan size.
PvP
- Recommended Players: 3 to 4
PvP servers allow you to fight with other players, as well as form a clan with allies. In this mode, you will be able to siege castles and steal items.
Similar to PvE servers, you will be able to see the number of players and clan size before joining.
Full Loot PvP
- Recommended Players: 4
Next, we have Full Loot PvP servers. These are similar to PvP servers, however with this game mode, you will lose everything upon death. If slain by another player, they will be able to loot everything that you dropped.
This game mode is difficult, and many servers focus on this PvP combat aspect, rather than building and researching new technologies.
Duo PvP
- Recommended Players: 1 to 2
Lastly, we have Duo PvP servers. This server type is the same as the normal PvP server, but instead of forming a clan with three other vampires, you will only need to find one other person. This is great if you want to join a PvP server, but don't have enough people to form a four-person clan together.
Private Game
Private servers are exactly what they sound like. These servers cannot be joined by random players, and are great if you want to play solo, or with a few friends.
When you choose Private Game, you can decide if the server will be PvP or PvE.
Additionally, there are several rulesets that you can choose from.
Ruleset | Description |
---|---|
Standard PvP Rules | This is the normal PvP mode. |
Full Loot PvP Rules | This ruleset is the same as Full Loot PvP in Online Play. |
Duo PvP | This ruleset is the same as Duo PvP in Online Play. |
Solo PvP | Play by yourself with no clanmates at your side. |
Standard PvP Easy | Enemies will deal less damage and have less HP. You will also be able to find more resources. |
Standard PvP Hard | Enemies will deal more damage and have more HP. You will also find fewer resources. |
PvP Dawn – Level 30 | This is a standard PvP game, but all gear, resources, and progression up until level 30 are unlocked. |
PvP Noon – Level 50 | This is a standard PvP game, but all gear, resources, and progression up until level 50 are unlocked. |
PvP Dusk – Level 70 | This is a standard PvP game, but all gear, resources, and progression up until level 70 are unlocked. |
Private servers will only be active if the host is online.
Dedicated Servers
Lastly, we have dedicated servers; these can either be hosted or rented. Dedicated servers are great for holding more players because they are essentially a computer that is used just for the server.
Dedicated Servers are always running. This means that anybody on the server can play, regardless if the host is online or not.
Host Dedicated Server
When you choose 'Host Dedicated Server', you will be brought to a page that takes you through the process of setting up a dedicated server yourself.
If you have never done this before, we do not recommend hosting your own server. Additionally, we don't suggest hosting a server if your PC isn't powerful enough.
Rent A Server
If you want a dedicated server, but don't have a powerful PC, you can also rent one from a partner of V Rising.
It's important to note that this will cost money depending on how long you choose to rent the server. Prices can be as low as $4 USD, but this will increase if you rent for longer periods of time.
With the dedicated server set up, you will then be able to configure the settings based on your liking.
