Many factions in World of Warcraft help to directly progress the main storyline, and the Knights of Ebon Blade are no exception. Led by Highlord Darion Mograine, they fight on the side of the living, and will stop at nothing to bring down the Lich King, as he seeks to control the entirety of Northrend in Wrath of the Lich King Classic.
A collection of renegade Death Knights, these undead champions have made it their aim to guide newer Death Knights and show them their true purpose. This guide will show you where to find the Knights of the Ebon Blade quartermaster, how to unlock the Shadow Vault hub, and how to quickly gain reputation in order to purchase powerful items.
How To Increase Knights Of The Ebon Blade Reputation
One of the more difficult factions to unlock in WotLK, the Knights of the Ebon Blade hub has to be unlocked via a lengthy quest line in Icecrown. Beginning at level 77, with It's All Fun and Games, you must talk to Thassarian on the Skybreaker, or Koltira Deathweaver on Orgrim's Hammer, depending on if you are Alliance or Horde respectively.
This will begin the quest chain, featuring around ten separate quests, that will feature you freeing the Shadow Vault from the Lich King's grasp. These quests will give you a good amount of reputation, and are mandatory for unlocking the faction quartermaster, so try to get the chain done as you are leveling.
There are earlier Ebon Blade quests in Zul'Drak, but these will not unlock the Shadow Vault hub, and so can be considered optional. They can be started at level 74, so if you want a bit of extra rep they can be completed prior to traveling into Icecrown.
As with other similar factions such as the Argent Crusade, you will need to reach the rank of Friendly, which requires 3000 reputation points, before being able to buy the Tabard of the Ebon Blade from the quartermaster.
The Knights of the Ebon Blade Quartermaster is Duchess Mynx, who can be found on the far left side of the Shadow Vault in Icecrown.
Gaining further reputation from quests is now optional, as the Tabard's effect will only be usable in level 80 Normal mode dungeons and all Heroics. Once you have a high enough level for these instances, equip the Tabard, and killing enemies will grant you Knights of the Ebon Blade reputation all the way up to Exalted. These instances are going to be your go-to source of gear anyway, so it makes your WotLK reputation grinds very efficient.
One of the Daily Quests outside the Violet Hold in Dalaran will provide you with a reputation token for a selected faction
The following dungeons will provide Knight of the Ebon Blade reputation on Normal difficulty:
- Caverns of Time – The Culling of Stratholme
- The Oculus
- Ulduar: Halls of Lightning
- Utgarde Pinnacle
If your character is a Human (Alliance only) in WotLK, your grind will be slightly shorter, as you will be granted ten percent increased reputation from all sources.
