Assassin's Creed Valhalla Will Support Xbox's Smart Delivery Service

While Ubisoft has yet to make an official announcement on the matter, new Assassin’s Creed Valhalla product details reveal that the upcoming open-world action-RPG will “leverage” Xbox’s Smart Delivery service. In other words, you only need to buy AC Valhalla once on Xbox One to get the Xbox Series X version, and next week’s Inside Xbox livestream will give us our first look at its gameplay.

Smart Delivery will allow Xbox One users, should they upgrade to the Xbox Series X when it drops this holiday, to transfer their games to the next-gen console. There’s a catch, though: the feature has to be enabled by the development studio. According to Microsoft, the company intends to use Smart Delivery for all of its first-party games, including Halo Infinite, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, and more.

Currently available first- and third-party games–such as Gears 5 and Rainbow Six Siege–and upcoming titles–like Cyberpunk 2077 and Watch Dogs: Legion–will also use of Xbox’s Smart Delivery service.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the latest entry in the long-running Assassin’s Creed franchise, following 2018’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The game is set during The Viking Age, features the choice between a male and female protagonist, and will arrive this holiday.
