Eiyden Chronicle's Kickstarter Has Hit A Whole Lot Of Stretch Goals

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, an upcoming game from Suikoden alumni Yoshitaka Murayama and Junko Kawano, launched its Kickstarter campaign on July 28, and has already hit most of the scope-broadening stretch goals that have been announced so far.

The project from newly formed Rabbit & Bear Studios hit its minimum goal of $500,000 within three hours (crashing Kickstarter along the way), and is well on its way to reaching the current top stretch goal of $2.85 million. At the time of writing, the campaign is around $2,687,000, with the next stretch goal at $2.7 million.

Already unlocked stretch goals have added a Fortress Town mode, cooking, fishing and battle mini-games, console releases, a New Game Plus, Chinese and Korean localisation, new sound effects and a full orchestra score, and new characters including Perielle, Yuferius VII, Maxim, and Hildi.

The three remaining stretch goals left to hit include one that will add party banter, another new character named Mellore, and a final stretch goal called “Economy of Scale,” with an unknown goal.

The campaign also lists a number of social goals, with backer rewards unlocked for mass actions like joining the game’s Discord, liking a social post, or following on social media.

Eiyuden Chronicle is a fantasy-themed JRPG designed as a spiritual successor to the Suikoden series. As well as the classic exploration-style gameplay and turn-based battles, Eiyuden Chronicle will also charge the player with rebuilding and restoring the game’s main town, which is where stretch goals like the cooking mini-game come in.

More importantly, cats are listed as an important feature of the game. As the Kickstarter page promises: “Cats as far as the eye can see. Cats meowing, cats napping, cats exploring the world. Cats, cats, cats. CATS!” No word on whether you’ll be able to pet the cat, however.

With the console release unlocked as a stretch goal, Rabbit & Bear is planning to bring the game to consoles including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The Kickstarter campaign is still live for 24 more days, with reward options for both physical and digital versions of the game.
