Halo Infinite’s campaign trailer shows a more open Master Chief adventure

Master Chief has been out of commission since Halo 5: Guardians seven years ago, but he’s back in the new campaign trailer for Halo Infinite. 343 Industries debuted the new trailer on Monday morning, showing off what Halo fans are in for when Halo Infinite launches on Dec. 8.

We haven’t seen any Infinite campaign gameplay since its disastrous showing last year, which was followed by a year-long delay. But after some very successful beta weekends, 343 Industries is shifting the narrative on its new evolution of Xbox’s biggest franchise.

The trailer shows off a Halo that should be familiar to fans while also being something completely new. Chief has a new Cortana, a garage filled with vehicles, a skill tree, a map (although Halo: ODST fans know that’s not anything new), and a host of new and familiar weapons. It may finally be a Halo game that lets you just explore one of the ring worlds.

If nothing else, the new Halo: Infinite trailer shows that Halo fans are in for something new: a long awaited departure from Bungie’s 20+ year-old Halo formula.
