Orphans of the Fens is the next quest in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla after The Song of Soma. For this quest you will need to locate all three of Soma’s closest advisors: Galinn, Birna, and Lif.
Similarly to The Song of Soma, this quest isn’t necessarily difficult in the conventional sense of the word. However, the Fenlands can be tough to navigate, which is why we’ve written this comprehensive Orphans of the Fens guide as part of our complete Assassin’s Creed Valhalla walkthrough. Here’s how to find Birna, Galinn, and Lif in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Orphans Of The Fens Guide
This guide picks up directly from where our The Song of Soma guide left off. Now that you have found Soma in Middletun and watched the cutscene, you will need to venture into the Fenlands to locate her three closest advisors.
Your first objective is to follow the quest marker on your minimap. This will lead you to the top of an old tower in the village (while you’re up here, you can loot a key off a corpse next to the bonfire). Light the fire at the top of the tower, which is supposed to serve as a beacon that Soma’s warriors can use as a reference point while attempting to navigate their way through the fog.
Despite the fact that you’ve lit the bonfire to help them find their way to Middletun, you still need to go and actively find each of the three advisors. You will now have three new quest markers highlighting three different destinations in the Fenlands. It’s important to note that when you get close to a quest marker it will disappear from your minimap, meaning that you will need to spam Odin’s sight to find the exact quest location from there (you can also consult your actual map to make sure you haven’t strayed too far away, as the quest marker will still show up there).
Although it doesn’t matter which order you search for the advisors in, the most efficient way to do it is obviously to reduce the overall distance travelled by as much as possible. As a result, we suggest going for Birna first, then Lif, and finally Galinn.
- Birna is highlighted by the easternmost marker on the map. She is holed up in a hut surrounded by enemy Saxons. Fortunately, they are mostly standard warriors with just one pikeman — if you have been following our walkthrough up until this point, this is probably when you’ll first realize that you’ve become a little bit overpowered, especially if you’ve been using our Assassin’s Creed Valhalla best builds page. Fight off the Saxons and open the door to let Birna out. Before you leave, be sure to go inside to collect an opal.
- Lif is highlighted by the middle marker. Him and some of his soldiers are being held captive out in the open, watched over by a small group of Saxons. Take out all of the enemies and head over to Lif and his crew to cut them loose, freeing them.
- Galinn is highlighted by the westernmost marker and is surrounded by three wolves across the river from where Soma’s longboat is beached. He is up at the top of a crow’s nest, and appears to be badly injured. Kill the wolves, climb up the ladder, and revive him in the same way you’d heal one of your crewmates.
After rescuing all three advisors, it’s time to head back to Soma’s camp in Middletun. Follow the quest marker to where you originally met her and a cutscene with start as soon as you arrive. You will have one dialogue choice here — I recommend telling Soma that her advisors will be grateful to learn that she risked her life to save them.
After the cutscene you will go to bed. When you wake up in the morning, Soma will speak of her intentions to take back Grantebridge, ending this quest and starting the next one: Glory Regained.
