Pokemon GO developers Niantic have just held their October Community Day and as expected this meant plenty of Pokemon GO news and rewards for trainers.
Whilst trainers got three-hour lures, reduced egg hatch distances and an influx of Beldum in the wild, the biggest addition to the event was a brand new shiny.
That's right, the steel type pokemon is now one of the many Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3 and Gen 4 Shiny Pokemon available to capture.
By definition, this also means that Beldum's evolved forms, Metang and Metacross, will also be available in its shiny form.
However, the community day has finished. It's only a small three-hour event after all. So can you still capture Shiny Beldum? Of course! Read on to discover how…
At the time of writing, there's only a handful of ways to encounter a shiny Beldum.
Although, your best bet, right now anyway, might be trying to trade with a friend.
Chances are you'll know someone who caught a shiny and has an extra to trade. It just depends on whether you have any really generous friends who are willing to trade the games latest shiny.
Outside of friends though, it's still possible to get yourself a shiny Beldum. But don't be fooled, it's also exceptionally more difficult.
Equally, this goes without saying but when you do find that Shiny Beldum you will need 125 candy to evolve yourself a Shiny Metacross, and it won't come with the new move Meteor Mash, which was only available on Community Day.
Keep reading as we've broken down all of the potential ways you might still be able to encounter a Shiny Beldum moving forward.
At the time of writing, there are only two ways to encounter a Beldum in Pokemon GO. And that means the chances of encountering a Shiny Beldum is also pretty limited.
For those wondering it's not possible to encounter a Shiny Metang or Metacross in the wild. So, the question then becomes, how can you encounter a Shiny Beldum?
To try and make things easy we've broken this down into the four main ways you might normally encounter a shiny Pokemon in the game.
Egg Hatches: Beldum is currently hatching from 10KM eggs at the moment. So, there's a chance of hatching a shiny. Even if your odds are pretty stacked against you.
Raid Battles: At the time of writing Beldum cannot be encountered in Raid battles. So that rules that option out. That said, this may change in the weeks ahead.
In the Wild: Whilst rare, you can encounter Beldum in the wild, but Silph Road research suggests there's about a 1/450 chance of encountering a shiny. To boost your chances, head over to the Silph Road Global Nest Atlas to find your nearest Beldum nest.
Field Research: There are no research tasks currently which offer the chance to encounter a Beldum or Shiny Beldum.
DON'T FORGET – Pokemon Go is a game in constant flux and small tweaks happen all the time. So keep checking back, especially at the start of the month when new research tasks are released, because it's possible the ways in which you can encounter Beldum change, and that means your chances of finding a shiny might also change in the future.
