Pokemon GO players aren't exactly short of Shiny Pokemon to capture at the moment.
Putting aside the recently added Shiny Caterpie as part of the November Field Research and worldwide event that saw Shiny Pinsir introduced, Pokemon GO players have well over 120 Shiny Pokemon in the game already.
Add to that the Shiny Elekid (And evolutions Electabuzz & Electivire) as part of the new Gen 4 release and you have a lot of new shiny choice in the game.
BUT, let's be honest, Niantic is keen on pumping out as many Shiny Pokemon as possible at the moment. And to celebrate the release of Pokemon Let's GO on Nintendo Switch they've surprised everyone with ANOTHER Shiny.
This time, it's the turn of Magnemite and by extension, the Pokemon's evolved form, Magneton.
Eventually, you'll also be able to get a Shiny Magnezone, but it's not currently available in the game just yet.
For now here's everything you need to know about getting the games latest shiny.
At the time of writing, we can say for certain that your best bet of encountering a shiny Magnemite will be in the wild.
Equally, it's worth remembering that it's not possible to encounter a Shiny Magneton in the wild.
Also, this goes without saying but when you do find that Shiny Magnemite you will need 100 candy to evolve.
Keep reading as we've broken down all of the potential ways you might be able to encounter a Shiny Magnemite moving forward.
Egg Hatches:
At the time of writing, Magnemite is not currently available in eggs. So there's no chance of finding a shiny via this method.
Raid Battles:
Magnemite is not currently a raid boss, so that rules that option out too.
In the Wild:
Magnemite is spawning in the wild, with slightly increased rates for the duration of the Let's GO event. However, to increase your chances of encountering a shiny, you want to go somewhere spawning as many Magnemite as possible.
We'd suggest that to boost your chances you should head over to the Silph Road Global Nest Atlas to find your nearest Magnemite nest, because obviously, the more you encounter, the higher your odds.
This comes as Niantic has announced more Pokemon in the game will be available for evolution in Pokemon Go, and that evolution candy costs have been reduced for many species that have a Gen 4 evolution.
Evolving Pokemon such as Rhyhorn, Porygon and Duskull now only takes 25 candy, instead of 50.
Also, the following Pokemon are now evolvable with a Sinnoh Stone:
Species NOT yet evolvable:
• Eevee (Leafeon/Glaceon)• Aipom• Nosepass• Kirlia (Gallade)• Lickitung• Magneton• Tangela• Yanma• Piloswine• Snorunt (Froslass)
