Warzone‘s killcams are handy for seeing how an enemy finished a player off, but not so much for explaining how they knocked that player in the first place.
Call of Duty has a lot of things that other games don’t. It’s one of the main reasons why it has become one of the biggest franchises in gaming and has stood the test of time. One thing it has when playing online that not all games have opted for is the killcam. A first-person view for a player to watch how they died from the killer’s point of view.
Although reliving the elimination this way is too painful for some players to watch, in some cases, it can be quite helpful. It may well open a player’s eyes to what they did wrong and how they got caught out. However, in Warzone‘s case, it isn’t normally all that helpful.
That’s due to the fact the killcam only shows the kill and not the knock that comes before it. That’s the information a player really needs to learn from their mistakes. Rewatching the enemy swoop in and finish off the kill isn’t helping anyone most of the time. Showing what happened during the moments before that, showing what the enemy player did to gain the advantage in the first place, that’s key information.
That’s not the only reason Infinity Ward should rethink what is shown on Warzone‘s killcams. Cheating and hacking are big problems in Warzone right now, and showing what these cheaters and hackers are doing to gain the advantage could be key to bringing it to an end. As it stands, someone hacking could knock a player and purposefully wait a few moments before finishing them off so their dirty exploits don’t get shown on the killcam.
Chances are most Warzone players skip straight past the killcam to the Gulag or back to the lobby. That’s due to the fact there’s nothing important to see. Add a little more footage to show where exactly a player went wrong, and where their rival player went right, and Warzone‘s killcams could become a very important part of the game.
