The best PS4 controllers out there feature programmable back paddles, and earlier this year, Sony released an attachment that equipped its DualShock 4 with them. That move proved popular as the back button attachment sold out quite quickly. Thankfully, Sony says more will be back in stock in the US next week. The DualShock 4 back button attachment costs $30 and can be found at multiple retailers, with some even offering backorders that let you order ahead of time and receive it when more stock becomes available.
Sony tweeted the news today, noting that you’ll be able to get it on its website “starting next week.” It’s unclear if stock will also return to retailers like GameStop and Best Buy, but we’ll be sure to report back if it does.

The DualShock 4’s back button attachment lets you map buttons to the attachment’s two paddles. That means you can map things like X and O to the back paddles, so you can jump and crouch in Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare without taking your thumbs off the analog sticks. They’re an absolute game-changer for most players.
If you’re looking for more back paddle suggestions, there are a number of excellent controllers that feature them. The Scuf Vantage 2 boasts four back paddles, two extra side buttons, and a bunch of other features that make it the best overall PS4 controller out there. However, it features a similar analog stick placement to the Xbox One controller, so if you’re not a fan of that, there’s the more traditional Scuf Infinity 4PS Pro, which boasts two back paddles and the option for digital tap triggers. There are plenty of other great options, so check out our guide to the best PS4 controllers you can buy in 2020.
