Brazilian esports organization Black Dragons has licensed the brand of traditional Brazilian soccer Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama to manage its esports branch. With this, all operations of Vasco eSports project will be managed and funded by Black Dragons and its CEO Nicolle “Cherrygumms” Merhy, releasing the soccer club of any obligation for investment in the operation.
Black Dragons will have exclusivity in using the Vasco brand for esports purposes for the duration of the three-year contract with the sports club. As Merhy told The Esports Observer, Black Dragons and Vasco eSports teams will be handled separately and have their own partnerships and sponsors. Teams from both organizations will share a 27-room structure in a building in São Paulo, in which some rooms will be dedicated to Vasco eSports and styled accordingly.
To avoid conflict of interests, the organizations will not compete in the same esports. Currently, Vasco eSports supports Wild Rift and Pro Evolution Soccer lineups, but an expansion of the project under the new management is underway.
