Dire Wolves Acquires AVANT Gaming, Sells LCO Slot

Australian esports organization Dire Wolves announced that it has acquired its competitor AVANT Gaming and will unite the two organization’s teams under the Dire Wolves brand. Dire Wolves did not disclose the financial details of the acquisition.

Dire Wolves, which was founded in 2014 around the creation of a League of Legends team, only became a multi-game organization in 2020 through the acquisition of N8 Esports and Sydney Drop Bears, moving into Overwatch, FIFA, and more. By the acquisition of AVANT Gaming, Dire Wolves will now move into Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

The organization secured its place in the recently announced League of Legends Circuit Oceania (LCO), which was formed earlier this month by ESL and Guinevere Capital following Riot Games retreat from the region at the end of 2020 as it closed its office in Australia and dissolved the Oceanic Pro League (OPL).

AVANT Gaming also secured a slot in the LCO, which Dire Wolves is now looking to sell to another organization.
