eFuse Raises $6M in Investments from NFL, NBA Stars

Gaming-focused social networking platform eFuse has secured a $6M USD investment from a collection of professional sports stars, influencers, and investors, led by Ohio Innovation Fund. While a representative for eFuse declined to comment on specific individual investments, they did tell The Esports Observer that commitments from some pro sports players involved in the round were “significant.”

Those investors include Philadelphia 76ers point guard Seth Curry, Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott,  New England Patriots defensive end Chase Winovich, and Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., among others.

eFuse will use the new funding to launch new products, expand its eRena events, user acquisition, make key hires, and more to drive growth, according to a release.

Described as the “LinkedIn for gamers,” the social network for connecting amateur players and influencers with opportunities such as scholarships and employment, currently has 500K users. The company recently hired former CSL Esports Chief Commercial Officer Neil Duffy as its new chief revenue officer and Herb May, former director of partnerships at the Houston Outlaws, as its new director of partnerships.

A month prior to the launch of its platform in December 2019, eFuse secured a $1.4M seed financing round also led by venture capital firm Ohio Innovation Fund.  Earlier this year, eFuse announced plans to host 24 events and increase its total prize pool from $300K in 2020 to at least $500K in 2021 for its eRena events.
