Canadian esports company Enthusiast Gaming has appointed NFL player Richard Sherman to its board of directors. Sherman has been affiliated with Enthusiast since 2019 when he became a global brand ambassador for its competitive esports brand Luminosity Gaming.
In addition to his celebrity status and competition experience, Sherman has become an active player in the tech sphere both in Seattle and Silicon Valley. He was recently named an advisor to venture capital firm Decibel. In a release, Enthusiast CEO Adrian Montgomery noted Sherman’s leadership experience and “relationships in Silicon Valley and the investment community in the United States,” as bringing “invaluable breadth and a fresh perspective to the board.”
Enthusiast Gaming recently filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as part of its plan to list on the NASDAQ. In addition to operating in Canada, the company has already established a presence in the U.S. through its Seattle-based Call of Duty League franchise along with sales groups in major U.S. cities.
