ESL One Cologne under a question mark
The coronavirus pandemic has swept across the world, affecting even esports and esport events. CSGO fans were left bitterly disappointed when IEM Katowice played out at the Spodek Arena without an actual audience. Furthermore, the first-ever Major to take place in Brazil, ESL One Rio, has been postponed to mid-late November, with ticket holders granted access to the event whenever it finally does take place.
Unfortunately, this could also mean that ESL One Cologne, an event regarded by many as the biggest and most elusive in the competitive CSGO world, would be canceled this year. The $1 million event is supposed to take place on June 6-12. Still, there is still hope. According to HLTV, the German government has yet to reveal the specifications of which events may take place.
The loss of yet another CSGO LAN event would definitely leave a ton of avid Counter-Strike fans upset. There is only going to be one other major this year – assuming the already postponed ESL One Rio actually does take place. That alone has already left many people with bittersweet feelings. Losing ESL One Cologne would be yet another disappointment in 2020, for both players and fans alike.
ESL One Cologne is one of the biggest events of the year in Counter-Strike.
