The LA Thieves survive to fight another day at the Call of Duty League Stage 2 Major, sweeping the Paris Legion 3-0.
In their first match since benching veteran and world champion Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat, LA dominated their opposition. Bringing in Zack “Drazah” Jordan to replace the main assault rifle for the Thieves seems to have worked out so far. While it’s only one match, LA certainly looked like a new and improved squad against Paris.
LA Thieves survive at the CDL Stage 2 Major
There were some questions about the SlasheR roster move coming into this match. Replacing a cornerstone of the roster a few days before the year’s biggest event doesn’t seem like the wisest move on the side of LA. However, clearly, the addition of Drazah sparked something in the Thieves roster.
Like many teams before them, bringing in an amateur player has paid off in spades for LA almost immediately. While Drazah did start for OpTic Gaming last season, he hasn’t played at all in the CDL this year. Although, that didn’t stop him en route to carrying the Thieves with a 1.72 K/D against the Paris Legion.
The highest performer on the roster by far, Drazah made things much easier for his teammates. The SMG duo of TJ “TJHaLy” and Carlos “Venom” Hernandez posted much better stats than in weeks past thanks to Drazah opening up lanes with his assault rifle.
LA and Paris fought a close battle in Hardpoint but the Search and Destroy and Control were both sweeps for the Thieves. Paris looked hopeless against the newly revamped LA roster, which could say more about the Legion than it does about the Thieves.
Paris was eliminated from the Stage 2 Major while LA lives on to keep fighting in the loser’s bracket. They will face the London Royal Ravens tomorrow, Thursday, April 8, at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
