VPEsports: ONIC PH had some pretty decent success in getting 2nd place in both the regular season and the playoffs of Season 4. What is stopping the lineup from reaching or passing those same levels again in your opinion?
Vee: Having a negative mindset can stop us from achieving the same level of success in the upcoming MPL Season 6 because when one is negative the whole team gets affected. That’s why we always try to focus on the positives of any game or tournament result and win or lose we look at what we can learn rather than blaming players for what they did wrong.
VPEsports: You guys will be competing in the Mytel International Championship soon – how are you currently preparing and what do you think about the competition?
Basic: Since its an international tournament and every country has a different meta, we try to study the metas of other countries so we can see where the Philippines has an advantage and also where the other countries have an advantage. We then try to find counter picks and strategies for the best heroes of these metas.
I think the Myrel International Championship is really good because it lets fans see how all the countries play against each other, especially because MSC was cancelled.
VPEsports: If MLBB moved to six players and you could pick ANY player to join your lineup, who would you pick? Why?
Jay: I think I would pick Lastii because he is probably the best natural tank user in MPL and he would complement our current lineup perfectly. He was also my teammate back in season 3 when we won the MPL championship.
VPEsports: The Aura PH (formerly Sunsparks) lineup has cemented itself as the best team in the region. What improvement can your team make in order to dethrone them?
Dlar: We got so close the last 2 seasons so we definitely think we can match up well with them. It’s all about being close as a team because all players in MPL are really talented but you can execute best during a stage like the grand final when you have good team chemistry and trust each other.
VPEsports: Which team do you like playing the most and why? Same for which team you dislike playing?
Wise: My favorite team to play is Execration because they love to clash and team fight so its always an entertaining game to play and for the fans to watch.
I don’t dislike playing against any team really because all the MPL teams present a different challenge to overcome.
VPEsports: With the need to move to online play instead of LAN due to the pandemic, do you think your team has performed better or worse? Why is that?
Bong: I think we have the same performance, we reached the MPL grand finals still so we did a good job. The annoying part of online play is that sometimes we experience lag but every team does too so it’s still fair.
