PlayVS Announces Over $600K In Scholarships For High School Esports Athletes

PlayVS, the official scholastic high school and college esports league, will award over $600K in scholarships to high school students across the country. The league will partner with gaming publishers in an effort to discover new talent, as well as, help students develop esports careers.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, traditional high school sports and extracurricular activities have been sidelined this year, leaving many students in limbo when it comes to college scholarships. Through this initiative, PlayVS will provide students with a chance to safely participate in sports remotely and access academic scholarships. PlayVS is committed to building a sustainable, community-driven ecosystem by organizing regional and state leagues and ensuring esports provide scholarship alternatives.

According to PlayVS Founder and CEO Delane Parnell, the organization is “taking an important leap forward in accelerating the futures of students who might not otherwise have the opportunities awarded to them towards receiving a higher education.”
